Festive Wedding Inspiration

With 2019 racing towards the finishing line, we find ourselves just 5 weeks away from Christmas (finding it a little heard to believe I’m actually typing that to be honest!) John Lewis have officially declared the start of the Christmas period with the release of their latest festive advert (staring the adorable Edgar, click here if you’ve not yet seen it) and it’s giving us all the cosy loved up feels. With that, we decided to put together a festive wedding inspiration post for anyone planning a December wedding and looking for some creative ideas for those finishing touches.

We love that ‘festive wedding’ is such a broad term - It could simply mean a wedding during the festive period with no other suggestion of the time of year… or it could mean full on Christmas themed wedding with Christmas tree centrepieces and mistletoe hanging from every door frame!

We have offered a few suggestions below to add elements of festivity into your winter wedding, to help ignite some ideas and inspiration on how to theme your very own big day. And of course if you’re looking for the perfect wedding dress in Birmingham for your winter 2020 wedding, then drop us a line as we have some incredible gowns and accessories that would fit the bill beautifully.

Wedding cake

Play it subtle with a simple white iced cake with touches of natural winter decor, or go all out with something like this naked red velvet cake for an element of wow factor! Looking for something somewhere in the middle? We love this textured three tier iced wedding cake - reminds us of winter woolies and cosy nights by the fire!

Wedding Favours

We love the idea of personalised baubles as wedding favours, doubling up as place names too! The colour could be tailored to your theme and would leave all your guests with a festive reminder of your special day each year they decorate their tree. Talking of trees - another amazing favour idea is baby Christmas trees! Your guests could grow their very own tree at home to be decorated the following Christmas remembering how it grew out of a day celebrating your love for one another.

Fairy Lights

The festive period would quite simply not be the same without those all time favourite strings of fairy lights. There are so many ways you could incorporate this into your day… whether it be a blanket hanging above you in your chosen venue or decorating the trees outside for those incredible twilight wedding portraits.

Mulled Wine

Welcome your guests to your wedding reception with a warm glass of mulled wine. Or put together handmade mulled wine spice sachets as favours to be taken home and enjoyed at home.

Pine Cones

We love pine cones! And again, there are so many ways to incorporate these into your wedding decor for a nod to the festive time of year. Try adding some to your bouquet, table arrangements or perhaps as place name holders at your wedding breakfast!

We would love to hear from you if you're looking for wedding dresses in Birmingham, book an appointment via our online booking system here and tell us all about your plans, the proposal and everything else... We love a love story!
